I've been told that when you voice out your desires to the universe, that somehow it will be given to you. As an actively working makeup artist, maybe more than half of my work in a year comes from weddings. Bridal makeup is a complex thing, the dynamics of it is a different monster all together. Early call times, panic-stricken brides, over-bearing mothers, uncooperative entourage --- you name it, i've most likely experienced it.
A few years back, i remember telling a colleague that i'd like to do bridal makeup for a same sex couple, you know, for novelty. I mean, it'll be quite an experience, one for the books. I'm Catholic, but i'm very open-minded on these things and i fully support the LGBT Community. Imagine my surprise when i learned that my FFLs Trisha and Lans (FFL stands for Friends for Life) got engaged! We were ecstatic! Finally! Even before the couple considered me to be their makeup artist, i wanted to do it. They are my friends after all. Since same sex marriage is not allowed in the Philippines, my friends decided to hold theirs in Vancouver, and while i was all too willing to travel there and have one of my professional dreams come true, my son's junior high school graduation prevented me from fulfilling it. What a bummer!
Luckily, my FFLs were throwing another wedding reception here in Manila for their families and friends who cannot make it to Canada. Yes, i was in luck! So i made sure that my family and i will be back from our summer vacation so as not to miss this once-in-a-lifetime, twenty-years-in-the-making celebration of love of my FFL's.

My dear friend, Trisha Gonzalez, last May 20 at Whitespace Manila. She wanted her makeup to be as simple as possible. I used Dior Airflash Foundation as a base and topped it off with Temptu Airbrush Foundation for more coverage and longevity.

The face of happiness. Trisha is a grade school classmate from an all-girl Catholic school in Quezon City.

Love wins. The happy couple, Trisha and Lans, with some of their FFLs, before their grand entrance....

Catered by Cibo.

You deserve all the love in the world, my friend! Especially from Lans.... hahaha! :-)
Love is love, and marriage is a gamble. The pleasure of doing my friend's makeup on her special day is mine, for it made me feel special too, having witnessed such unconditional love that knows no boundaries.
Maquillage est amour! <3
